Parent-Child Health Consultations

Consultations are offered on child care and health issues related to babies and young children. Consultations are also offered on concerns regarding pregnancy and on giving birth. Expectant mothers and those who have already given birth are welcome. These services are free.

Health Checks for Babies and Young Children

Please remember to take your child to the doctor periodically for health checks. In Hamamatsu, you can receive the 4-month old and 10-month old medical check-ups for your child at city-entrusted medical facilities for free (expenses are borne by the city). For the 18 month old check-up and the 3 year old check-up, an individual notice will be sent out.
Newborn Hearing Screening (Maternal and Child Health Handbook and the Hearing Screening Voucher. Please present the Hearing Screening Voucher at the hospital after you have delivered your baby. You will have to pay a part of the fee.

4 Month Old Check-up

Age	Children between 3 and 5 months old
Examination Type	Individual (one at a time)
Items to Bring	The 4 month check-up voucher from your Maternal and Child Health Handbook
Locations	Hospitals and clinics (e.g. pediatricians and gynecologists entrusted by the City)

10 Month Old Check-up

Age	Children from 9 months old until the day before they turn 1 year old
Examination Type	Individual (one at a time)
Items to Bring	The 10 month check-up voucher from your Maternal and Child Health Handbook
Locations	Hospitals and clinics (e.g. pediatricians and gynecologists entrusted by the City)

18 Month Old Check-up

Age	Children between 18 and 20 months old
Examination Type	Group examination
Examination Contents	Interview, physical measurements, examination, dental exam, consultation, etc.
Locations	Health Centers, Branch Offices, etc.

3 Year Old Check-up

Age: Children from 3 years of age until the day before they turn 4 years old
＊ Please inform us if your child moved into Hamamatsu when they were between 2 years 9 months old and 4 years old and has not yet taken the 3 year old examination.
＊ During the teeth examinations, fluoride treatment is available for 680 Yen if you wish for your child to receive it.

Exam Type: Group examination
Exam Contents: Oral health exam, fluoride treatment (optional, free for children in group 1 and 680 Yen for children in group 2)
Items to Bring: Maternal and child health handbook, toothbrush (a new brush for final brushing)
