Each person should prepare one week’s worth of daily necessities for life as an evacuee such as foodstuffs and water (including 3 days worth of emergency food). Do not make the pack too heavy. Also, when evacuating make sure you switch off the electrical breaker and main gas valve, as leaving these on can lead to fires. Evacuate by foot, not by car.
Passport, Residence Card, foodstuffs, drinking water, a radio, a torch (flashlight), batteries, matches/candles/lighter, first aid kit, household medicine, masks, sanitizer, a knife, a can-opener, bank passbook, cash (including 10 yen coins for public phones), towels, soap, tissues, paper cups/plates, white gloves, rope, underwear, blankets/sleeping bags, plastic sheet, tampons/sanitary towels
Wet tissues, cling film (plastic wrap) (for wrapping food), toilet paper, plastic bags, a mask, a whistle. Families with babies should also pack baby goods such as nappies and baby bottles.
