Preventing Traffic Accidents

Drivers should study the traffic regulations of Japan and drive cautiously with great care in order to avoid accidents and keep the roads safe and orderly.

• Keep to speed limits
• Drop your speed when approaching curves in the road
• Ensure that crossroads are safe before proceeding
• Allow pedestrians to cross by coming to a full-stop at crossings
• Do not drink and drive (the legal limit in Japan is ZERO!)

In order to prevent traffic accidents and keep foreigners in Japan safe on the roads, the All Japan Foundation for Traffic Safety has published and is selling a guide to road safety in three languages.
