Basic Rules of Rubbish Disposal 

Please follow the rules when disposing of rubbish

1. Rubbish is to be disposed of at your local neighborhood’s set collection site.

If you do not know the location of your local collection site then please ask your neighbor.

2. Check the Rubbish Collection Calendar for the designated disposal days.

Naka Ward / Higashi Ward / Nishi Ward /  Minami Ward / Kita Ward /  Hamakita Ward /  Tenryu Ward

The Rubbish Collection Calendar is delivered to everyone’s homes at the beginning of Febrary. They are also available from city hall, local ward offices and community collaboration centers.
The Rubbish Collection Calendar is different for each neighborhood. Before putting out your rubbish, please check which number Rubbish Collection Calendar is used for the neighborhood in which you live.

3. Please put rubbish out before 8:30 am on the designated collection day.

You can dispose of up to 3 bags of trash at once. If you want to dispose of more than that, please refer to "Large quantities of Waste"

4. Carefully separate and sort your rubbish.

The sorting categories include Burnable Rubbish, Non-burnable Rubbish, Plastic Containers and Packaging, Recyclable Materials (Glass Bottles, Cans, PET Bottles), Special Items and Rubbish that Requires Contact.

5. Use the Hamamatsu City designated rubbish bags.

Hamamatsu City designated rubbish bags can be bought at stores.

6. Consult and work together with your neighbors to follow the rules.
