Notice on “Child-rearing Support Allowance to Cope with Rising Prices” offered by the government (20,000 yen per child)

Hamamatsu City will be giving a one-time payment of 20,000 yen per child.

Since the prices of goods has been rising, households with children can receive a 20,000 yen allowance.

Frequently Asked Questions

(1) If I do not apply, can my children not receive the allowance？

• You do not need to if you are already receiving the child-rearing allowance. （※The city already sent notice letters for those who already get child-rearing allowance）.
• To those who falls under (6) below, please apply.

(2) Can my child(ren) get the allowance？

Child(ren) born between April 02, 2007 〜 March 31, 2026 can get the allowance.

(3) Who can get the allowance？

• Those who already receive child-rearing allowance
• Legal guardian(s) of child(ren) who is(are) born between October 01, 2025 〜 March 31, 2026

(4) How much do I get？

It is 20,000 yen per eligible child as written in (2). You can only receive the allowance once.

(5) When and how can I get the allowance？

• In Hamamatsu City, children’s allowance are sent to your bank account around the end of January.
• The allowance are sent to the account used for receiving the child-rearing allowance in October 2025 (in December 2025 for children born in September 2025,) or the bank account written on the notification form.
• If you cancelled or change the bank account, please make sure to submit a notification form to the Hamamatsu City counter for Child-rearing Support Allowance to Cope with Rising Prices. (TEL: 053-457-2792)

(6) Do I need to apply ？

If you belong to the following, please apply:

• Legal guardian(s) of child(ren) born from October 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026 (※ You do not need to apply for this 20,000 yen allowance if you applied for a child-rearing allowance.)
• Public servants who receive child-rearing allowance from their place of employment (※ Please ask for the procedures at your place of employment)
• Legal guardian(s) who needs to apply for child-rearing allowance due to divorce (or in the middle of legal divorce procedure) as of October 1 onwards (※ You do not need to apply for this 20,000 yen allowance if you applied for a child-rearing allowance.)

(7) What should I do if…

I moved?

The municipality that paid the child-rearing allowance for September (October for children born in September 2025) will deposit the 20,000 yen into the account receiving the allowance or the account on the notification form.

My child(ren) and I are running away from domestic violence?

If you change the child-rearing allowance recipient in the municipality where you are staying, you may be able to receive the 20,000 yen. Please contact the municipality where you ran away to as soon as possible. You do not need to transfer your residence registration and you also do not need to contact the municipality where your spouse lives.
