Life-Saving Emergency Response System
〈 命を守るための出動体制 〉
There are seven fire stations and eighteen branch offices (hereinafter referred to as fire stations) within Hamamatsu City.
When you call 119 from within the city, the call connects to the Fire Department Command Center at the Fire and Disaster Management Bureau (Shimoikegawa-cho, Chuo Ward), and the ambulance that can arrive at the scene the fastest is dispatched.
When You Call 119, You Will Hear These Types of Questions in Japanese
“Is this a fire or a medical emergency?”
“Please give me your address.(※)”
“Who is involved and what happened?”
“Please tell me your name and phone number.”
※For landline calls, we can instantly pinpoint your location. For mobile phone calls, location data may be inaccurate, so please provide your address or nearby landmarks, such as buildings, bus stops, bridges, or utility pole numbers.
When calling 119 from a smartphone, the Fire Department Command Center may request a video call.
While on the call, they will guide you through first aid procedures.
