Cancer and Other Examinations
Hamamatsu City offers medical examinations for early detection and treatment of cancer and other conditions for those without examination opportunities elsewhere, e.g. at their workplace.
To take care of your health, go for regular medical examinations.
Cancer examinations
For early detection and treatment of cancer and other conditions, examinations are conducted for cancers, osteoporosis (an illness that causes bones to become brittle) and periodontitis.

Those exempt from fees
People who meet the following criteria are exempt from fees for cancer, osteoporosis and periodontitis examinations.
- 1. Those 70 and over
- 2. Those aged 65 to 69, with disabilities or such, who have a latter-stage elderly medical insurance card
- 3. Households receiving public welfare
- 4. Households in which none of the family members are required to pay residence tax
*Those who fall under 3 or 4 should apply to the Health Promotion Division at their local ward office before receiving an examination.

Make an appointment with a medical institution.
What to bring
Cancer exam ticket, health insurance card
Cancer Exam Ticket
You will need a "cancer exam ticket" when you go for your examination.
For those who do not have examination opportunities elsewhere, e.g. at their workplace, and wish to undergo Hamamatsu City’s cancer examinations, please contact the Health Promotion Division at your local ward office. (For those aged 65 and up or enrolled in Hamamatsu City’s National Health Insurance, a cancer exam ticket will be mailed to you every year in April.)
Free Cancer Exam Coupon
A free cancer exam coupon that enables the holder to undergo free examinations for cervical cancer, breast cancer and colon cancer will be issued to those of a certain age or who meet certain conditions.
The free exam coupon will be delivered to those eligible around June. Once delivered, please take the opportunity to receive a free examination.

Free Hepatitis Exam Coupon
A free exam coupon that enables the holder to undergo a free examination for the hepatitis virus will be sent to those of a certain age or who meet certain conditions.
The free exam coupon will be delivered to those eligible around June. Once delivered, please take the opportunity to receive a free examination. (To check whether or not you are eligible, please contact the Health Promotion Division of your local ward office.)
Periodontitis Examination
What to bring
Periodontitis exam ticket, tooth brush, health insurance card
Periodontitis Exam Ticket
You will need a "periodontitis exam ticket" when you go for your examination.
Those without exam tickets should contact the Health Promotion Division of their local ward office. You can’t receive dental treatment on the same day.

Adult Health Consultations
Regularly taking care of your health plays a vital role in leading a fit and active life. Free health consultations for all Hamamatsu residents are provided by public health nurses and nutritionists. Feel free to come in anytime.
Please bring your health handbook with you if you have one. Please note that this is not a medical examination by a doctor.
Services provided: health consultations, nutritional consultations, body measurements, blood pressure checks, etc.
Please contact the Health Promotion Division of your local ward office for details on when and where consultations will take place.

Public health nurses visit your home and provide the health guidance necessary to prevent diseases and promote health.

Rubella Antibodies Examination and Vaccination Aid
Please undergo examinations for anti-bodies and receive vaccinations if you have not been vaccinated before or have not contracted rubella before. This will not only be protect yourself but also your family and pregnant women from contracting it.
Rubella Antibodies Examination
Through a blood test, you can find out if you are immune to Rubella.
Free for people under the following categories:
1. Women planning for a pregnancy
2. People who live at the same address as a pregnant woman
3. Men born between April 2nd 1962 and April 1st 1979
* People who have not used the coupon before.

Rubella Vaccinations
Please undergo the vaccination if the results of your antibodies examination show that your immunity is low.
Free for the following people:
Men born between April 2nd 1962 and April 1st 1979 whose examination results reveal low immunity to Rubella.
