South

The castle town developed by Ieyasu stretched to the south side of the castle. In the Edo Period (1603 – 1868), Otemon (large gate) was built at the southern end of the castle, and the south was developed as the front entrance to the castle. The Tokaido Road was set to the south and east of the Otemon.
