Nursery Schools

Nursery is a place where children, whose families are busy to look after them during the day due to work, sickness, etc., can go. In place of parents (or caregivers), the nursery can watch over children from age 0 until they enter elementary school. The nursery's fees are based on a family's tax bracket. The application forms are available in every local government center. When enrolling, please note the following points:

  • Foreign residents will need to bring their Residence Cards (for all family members, copies of front and back of cards).
  • When applying, you need to state which nursery you want to send your child to.
  • Parents (Guardians) must individually be working over 64 hours per month.
  • An interview with the parent(s)/guardian(s) and child will be held at the nursery school after applying. Please bring the child’s Maternal and Child Health Handbook and Hamasuku File.
