As the cold season approaches, we ask that our citizens take sufficient measures to prevent their water pipes from freezing –as even in Hamamatsu’s relatively mild climate, water pipes may still occasionally freeze.
Places especially prone to freezing:
Outdoor water pipes, water heaters, boilers, etc.
Prevent freezing:
Wrap heat insulation materials around your water pipes. Leave faucets slightly open, so they drip.
If your pipes freeze:
When pipes freeze: Wait until the pipes thaw. Help by pouring lukewarm water on the pipes.
When pipes burst:
(1) Close the main valve, and wrap the pipe with vinyl tape, etc.
(2) Call a professional plumber for repairs.

Open burning is generally prohibited due to the burden it places on our environment and those living in the vicinity.
Even if the burning is necessary for agricultural or forestry activities, you may be instructed by government officials to cease burning if a complaint is lodged.
