● Rapid Multilingual Provision of Disaster Preparedness Information using Robotic Process Automation (RPA)
Hamamatsu City is the first city in Japan to use RPA* technology to create a system which translates Japanese into multiple languages, scheduled to start operation in September.
*RPA is a system in which software robots perform tasks that humans do on computers.
Features of RPA-based information provision systems
- Information can be provided in multiple languages (English, Portuguese, and Plain Japanese) with automatic substitution from multilingual templates as required for disaster information.
Compared to the previous system, the translation process will take less time, so the time between when the information is issued and when the email arrives will be significantly shorter.
New emergency information will be delivered via Disaster Preparedness Hotto Mail in multiple languages. See above.

What to Watch Out for When Using Water and Sewage Systems During Disasters

Water
If the water a cloudy reddish brown color, be careful! This may cause damage to your water heater or other equipment. and other equipment may be damaged!
Remember!
If the water is cloudy: Equipment that uses water may break
Use the equipment after confirming that the cloudiness is gone
There may be a leak in the house!
The tremors of an earthquake may damage the water pipes in the house, causing water to leak inside the walls or under the floor. Check the water meter with all faucets in the house turned off, and if the pilot* is turning, there is a leak in the house. Tighten the main water valve and contact the city's designated water supply system contractor (check our website for the list) to repair the leak.

The toilet might overflow!
Remember!
If the toilet is not flushing properly properly: Sewage might overflow if you force the toilet to flush
Use a portable toilet that you have stockpiled

The city asks that you stockpile drinking water (3 liters per person per day for 7 days) and portable toilets (5 per person per day x 7 days). If any damage occurs that requires citizens to refrain from using water and sewage systems, we will send a notice via Disaster Prevention Hotto Mail, the city website, and the city's official SNS (Twitter and LINE).
