 Removal of Rubbish or Recyclable Materials from Collection Points is Prohibited

1. Outline

It is forbidden to ask someone from outside of your city to dispose of your rubbish for you in another city. 

*It is forbidden for individuals to bring rubbish for disposal from one city to another, without receiving permission from the municipal government or PTA or Disposal Agency.

2. If you break the law

As per the regulations, punishments include having your name made public or being fined up to 200,000 yen.

3. Objective

  • To prevent loss of awareness for separation of household rubbish
  • To create an environment where rubbish can be put out safely and without worry
  • To prevent scattering of rubbish at collection sites and maintain their cleanliness
  • To ensure proper disposal by having the city take responsibility for disposal

4. Items that are prohibited to take

Items that are prohibited to take

  • Rubbish and recyclable materials put out at collection points (e.g. metal non-burnable items, cans)
  • Rubbish that requires contact (e.g. bicycles, household electrical appliances)
  • Recyclable materials put out for group collection (e.g. aluminum cans, cardboard, old clothing)
