Childcare Allowance (Kodomo Te-ate)
<子ども手当>
● <Feb Payment>
The Feb payment for Childcare Allowance (covering Oct – Jan) will be deposited into your designated bank account on Feb 14
th (Tue).
The Feb payment amount per child will reflect the following monthly amount changes:
Monthly Allowance (per child)
• Under age 3 / ¥15,000
• From age 3 through Elementary School / 1st and 2nd child ¥10,000; 3rd and subsequent children ¥15,000.
• Junior High School students / ¥10,000
● If you received a Childcare Allowance Notice with a black bar at the top:
This notice was mailed out in Oct-Nov to those households who need to enroll in order to receive Childcare Allowance. The enrollment deadline for paperwork handed in directly to your local ward office Social Welfare Division (Shakai Fukushi-ka) service counter is Mar 30
th (Fri); if you prefer to mail in your paperwork, it must be postmarked by Mar 31
st (Sat). If you enroll by the deadline and are approved to receive Childcare Allowance, you will be able to receive benefits retroactively back to Oct 2011. However, in some cases where enrollments are lodged after late Jan, the allowance will be deposited as a lump sum in the Jun payment installment instead of the Feb payment installment. If you have still not enrolled, please read the instructions and complete your enrollment as soon as possible.
* If you have already enrolled, there is no need to re-enroll.
* In some cases, new enrollees who sign up and are approved after late Jan will receive their eligible allowance in a lump sum in the Jun payment installment.
* For newborn children and children moving in to Hamamatsu City, eligible payments can begin as early as the month following the birth or move date, provided that enrollment occurs within 15 days of the birth or move.
● As of late Nov 2011, the fate of Childcare Allowance (Kodomo Te-ate) for Apr 2012 and onwards is still under Diet consideration.
When a decision is reached, the Hamamatsu City website will be updated accordingly.
