About Hamamatsu Foreign Resident Study Support Center
We residents of Hamamatsu, both Japanese and non-Japanese, want to make our city a great place in which to live. Here at the Hamamatsu Foreign Resident Study Support Center opened in 2010, we are working towards making our multicultural community a better place to live by providing educational support for our city's non-Japanese residents and by providing training for Japanese language education volunteers.
A model for the whole nation…
As the community with the largest Brazilian population in Japan, we are working to provide our non-Japanese residents of all ages with general educational support.
Here at our center, we dispatch Japanese language education staff to non-Japanese schools around the city, and we also hold Japanese language instruction sessions with participants from various different countries.
Cooperating with the Hamamatsu Multicultural Center, we are working toward making Hamamatsu a unique multicultural community.

A new form of community facility
On the 1st floor, there are city-run classroom facilities for:
- 1.Japanese Language Lessons
- 2.Japanese Language Education Volunteer Training
- 3.Multicultural Understanding Classes
- 4.Portuguese Classes for Japanese Educators
The 2nd floor is occupied by Mundo de Alegria, a semi-incorporated school for children of Latin American cultural background.
The school closely coordinates its activities with the adult educational facilities on the 1st floor.
Everyone working together to make it happen
Our activities are carried out with participation by members of various local association and groups in our Facility Management Council.
Operating with support by national and prefectural government authorities, our educational activities are overseen by a Center Management Council staffed by Japanese language instruction specialists, NPO volunteers and others in cooperation with our fellow city residents.

Japanese Language Lessons
We conduct classroom instruction to provide non-Japanese residents with Japanese language skills to help them in their daily lives. Classes are held to fit a wide variety of proficiency level, schedule, location and child-care needs.
Japanese Language Education Volunteer Training
Classes are provided for people who would like to become Japanese language education volunteers.
Multicultural Understanding Classes
These classes are provided for the greater multicultural understanding and enjoyment of our multicultural community by and for both our city’s Japanese and non-Japanese residents.
Portuguese Classes for Japanese Educators
These classes are provided for Japanese educators and other teaching and/or public service professionals who have an on-the-job need for Portuguese language communication skills.

By train
From JR Hamamatsu Station, take the westbound JR Tokaido train headed in the direction of Toyohashi-Nagoya. It takes about nine minutes to arrive at JR Maisaka Station. It is about a ten-minute walk (one kilometer) from the North Exit of JR Maisaka station.
By bus
From Gate 5 (Shitoro/Ubumi Line) at the Entetsu JR Hamamatsu Station Bus Terminal, take the “Number 20 Irino/Ubumi/Yamazaki Bus” or “Aeon Shitoro/Maisaka Eki” bus. It is about a 35-minute ride. Get off at the “Yūtō Chūgakkō Iriguchi” (Yuto Junior High School Entrance”) bus stop.
By car
From central Hamamatsu, it is about a 20-minute drive (about 10 km) via the Hamamatsu/Yūtō Road.
From the Hamamatsu West Interchange (IC) of the Tomei Expressway, it is about a 15-minute drive (about 8.5 km) on Prefectural Road 65 (Hamamatsu Beltline).
From the Magori Interchange (IC) of the Hamana Bypass, it is about a 5-minute drive (about 2 km).
Parking capacity: approximately 100 cars.
