Event to mark one year before the opening of Hamamatsu Mosaiculture 2009
On 20th September, the event to mark one year before the opening of Hamamatsu Mosaiculture in 2009 was held at the Hamamatsu Flower Park. On the day, Hamamatsu’s Vice Mayor also announced the Mosaiculture sculpture that was created in the image of “unagi inu” (Hamamatsu city’s character). It has already reached one year before the Hamamatsu Mosaiculture 2009 will be held. This international event, being held for the first time in Japan, aims to promote to the world the new horticultural art of Mosaiculture and at the same time to make Hamamatsu the birthplace of Mosaiculture in Japan. Hamamatsu is known as the “city of music” and the “city of innovation”, but in fact it is also a “city of flowers and greenery”. Through the Mosaiculture, Hamamatsu aims to transmit to the world the characteristic of “Hamamatsu – a city of flowers and greenery” which is widely supported by the citizens of the city.
