HAMAMATSU CITY

The UCLG ASPAC (United-Cities Local Governments, Asia Pacific Region) Executive Bureau, Council and General Assembly meeting was held in Thailand, Pattaya on the July 18th. At the General Assembly, Hamamatsu Mayor presented the bid to hold the 2010 UCLG ASPAC Congress in Hamamatsu. The presentation gave an outline of the attractiveness of the City including its record of holding past international events as well as being home to many international companies. As a result, Hamamatsu won the bid over Jakarta, Indonesia to host the 2010 UCLG ASPAC Congress in Hamamatsu. In an era where the importance of inter-city exchange is crucial, Hamamatsu is taking the opportunity to increase its role in the international stage. In addition, Hamamatsu is working towards the 100th year anniversary of the city’s founding in 2011 together with the flower event.
