Singaporean Junior High School Students Meet with Hamamatsu Mayor
Twenty Singaporean junior high school students, currently participating in an international understanding education course including a homestay and visit to a Hamamatsu school, met with the Mayor of Hamamatsu at Hamamatsu City Hall. The Mayor encouraged the students to become a bridge between Japan and Singapore, and expressed his hope that the course would prove to be a fruitful experience for them. Speaking on behalf of the students, Qichao Giam replied we have few chances to speak Japanese in Singapore. We want to see Japan for ourselves and experience and learn as much as possible so as to improve our Japanese. When asked to give their thoughts on Japan, the students replied with comments such as I am very grateful to my host family and the friends I have made at school for their kindness and Japanese food is delicious.
