Hamamatsu International Piano Competition
Hamamatsu International Piano CompetitionHeld every three years, this renowned competition aims to discover young, talented pianists from all over the globe. It began in 1991, on the 80th anniversary of the city's incorporation, and was conceived as a project that would present high-caliber artists to residents and also dispatch Hamamatsu's "city of music" vision to the world. It was admitted into the World Federation of International Music Competitions in 1998.

Hamamatsu Wind Ensemble Conference
Hamamatsu Wind Ensemble ConferenceA project for promoting wind-instrument music, developing local ability, improving musicians' skills and encouraging friendships. It is held every year in late March.




Hamamatsu World Youth Choral Festival
Hamamatsu World Youth Choral FestivalAccepts choirs from all over the world, focusing on groups with accomplished young members who have a love for choral music. It strives to encourage exchange with local residents and contribute to international goodwill.

Hamamatsu Citizen's OperaPlanning and management of a chosen opera are overseen by Hamamatsu residents.





Children's Musical
ChildrenÅfs MusicalEncourages an appreciation of the performing arts by giving children an opportunity to participate in musicals, and utilizes local talent in planning, production and staging.




Music Instruction for International Exchange
Mr. Karl Jeitler, trombonist for the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, is invited every year to teach at schools and clubs throughout the region. Exchange concerts are also held.
